About this policy
This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It covers theintend.com and The Intend app for iOS.
We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything here is unclear, write to us at contact@theintend.com and we will explain it properly.
Who we are
The Intend LLC is a wellness platform based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We connect people with expert practitioners, publish written and audio content, and provide an AI companion for reflection and self-understanding.
For anything about your information, contact contact@theintend.com.
What we collect
- When you create an account
- Your name, email address, and password. Your phone number if you add one, which we ask for because instalment payments require it.
- When you use the platform
- Sessions and programmes you book. Packages you buy and how many sessions you have used. What you save and like. Which articles you have read and how far through you are. Which e-books you have opened and where you stopped. Sound tracks you have played or downloaded.
- What you write
- Mood check-ins. Journal entries. Worksheet answers. Messages to your AI companion.
- When you pay
- What was bought, when, how much, and whether it succeeded. We do not receive or store your card number, expiry date, or security code. Those go directly to our payment providers.
- Automatically
- Your device type and operating system version, your app version, your time zone, and a device token if you allow notifications. Basic error and performance information when something fails.
- If you are an expert on the platform
- Your professional profile, your availability, your bank details for payouts, and, if you choose to connect it, read access to your Google Calendar so we can avoid double booking you.
Your AI companion
The companion is worth explaining separately, because people reasonably want to know where their words go.
- What is stored
- Your messages and the companion's replies are saved against your account so that a conversation continues where you left it and so the companion can remember what matters to you across conversations.
- Who processes them
- To produce a reply, your message and the relevant parts of your history are sent to an AI provider we work with, who operate the underlying model. They process it only to generate the response, under a contract that does not permit them to use it to train their models or for any purpose of their own.
- What it is not used for
- We do not sell it. We do not use it for advertising. We do not show it to the experts on our platform. We do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
- Deleting it
- Deleting your account deletes your conversations along with everything else.
Payments
Card payments are handled by Stripe and instalment payments by Tabby. Both are independent payment providers with their own privacy policies, and both receive your payment details directly rather than through us.
We keep a record of each transaction: what was bought, the amount, the currency, the provider, whether it completed, and a reference from the provider so a payment can be traced if something goes wrong. We never see your full card details.
Tabby requires a phone number to assess an instalment plan. That is why we ask for one, and why instalments are unavailable without it.
Notifications
If you allow them, we send notifications about your upcoming sessions, sessions remaining in a package, and details an expert has added to a booking such as a joining link or an address.
These are delivered through your device's notification service. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings, and doing so does not affect anything else.
Expert calendars
Experts may connect a Google Calendar so that times they are already busy do not appear as available.
Where an expert connects one, we read free and busy times only. We do not read event titles, descriptions, guests, or locations. When a session is booked we create a single event for that session. An expert can disconnect at any time, which stops all access.
Service providers
Running the platform means working with a small number of specialist companies. Each is bound by a contract, acts only on our instructions, and receives only what it needs to do its part.
- Hosting and storage
- Our database, files, and the services behind the app and website are operated by infrastructure providers on our behalf.
- AI
- An AI provider processes your companion messages to generate replies, and nothing else.
- Payments
- Card payments are handled by Stripe and instalment payments by Tabby. You deal with them directly at checkout and their own terms apply.
- App distribution and notifications
- The app store you downloaded from distributes the app and delivers notifications to your device.
- Expert calendars
- Where an expert connects a Google Calendar, Google provides their availability. The expert grants this themselves and can revoke it.
- An email provider sends account and booking messages on our behalf.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Where your information is held
We and the providers we work with operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside the country you live in. Where that happens, we rely on the contractual protections and recognised safeguards those providers put in place for international transfers. You can ask us for more detail at contact@theintend.com.
How long we keep it
Your account information and content are kept while your account is open.
Transaction records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, which is generally several years, even after an account is closed.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your bookings, your saved items, your journal, your mood history, and your companion conversations. This cannot be undone.
Your choices
You can change your name, phone number, and password at any time in Personal information.
You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
You can delete your account from inside the app. Open You, then Settings, then Delete account. It is permanent.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to how we use it, or to have it sent to another provider. Write to contact@theintend.com and we will respond.
If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Information stored on your device
Some things are kept on your phone rather than on our servers, so the app works quickly and without a connection: which items you have saved, your reading position, sounds you have downloaded, and a cached copy of articles and expert profiles so they can be read offline.
Signing out clears this from the device. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Children
The Intend is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Where you talk about your child, whether with your companion or in a journal entry, that is your account and your record, and everything in this policy applies to it in the same way.
If you believe a child has created an account, contact contact@theintend.com and we will remove it.
Security
Access to your account requires your password. Information is encrypted in transit. Our database restricts each account to its own rows, so one person's information is not reachable by another. Bank details for expert payouts are visible only to administrators.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach affects you, we will tell you.
The website
theintend.com uses only what it needs to function, including a cookie that keeps you signed in and remembers your language. We do not use advertising cookies or third party tracking pixels.
Changes
We will update this page when the platform changes and revise the date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app or by email rather than relying on you noticing.
