Who we are

The Intend LLC operates the website at theintend.com and The Intend mobile application. We are based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this policy we call ourselves The Intend, we, or us.

We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at contact@theintend.com.

What this policy covers

It covers the website, the app, and the bookings, digital products and content available through them.

It does not cover the independent practitioners on the platform when they act on their own behalf, for example in how they keep their own clinical or session records. It also does not cover websites we link to, which have their own policies.

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number and profile photo.
  • Booking details: the expert you booked, the session you chose, the time you selected, and the name and email address you booked under.
  • Payment details: payments are handled by Stripe and Tabby. We receive the card brand, the last four digits, the amount, the currency and a payment reference. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Anything you write to us, through the contact form or by email.
  • For experts: the account holder name, bank name, account number or IBAN and country needed to pay you.

Information created as you use the app

Some features record how you are feeling. Depending on which you use, this can include the moods and states you log, the focus areas and affirmations you choose, anything you write in the journal, your conversations with the AI guidance feature, and notes an expert makes about a session with you.

This is sensitive information about your health and wellbeing and we treat it accordingly. It exists to provide the feature you chose to use. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone outside the people described in this policy.

You can stop using any of these features at any time, and deleting your account removes this information.

Information collected automatically

  • Device type, operating system, app version and approximate region.
  • Pages and screens you view, and error reports when something goes wrong.
  • A device token, if you turn on notifications, so we can send them.
  • Calendar access tokens, if you or your expert connect a calendar so session events can be created.

How we use your information

  • To create and run your account.
  • To arrange, confirm and remind you about bookings.
  • To take payment and to pay experts.
  • To deliver digital products you buy and to give you continued access to them.
  • To provide the app features you choose to use.
  • To reply to you.
  • To keep the service secure and to prevent fraud.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • To understand what is and is not working, so we can improve the service.

Our grounds for using it

Where UK or EU data protection law applies to you, we rely on the following.

  • Performance of a contract, for your account, bookings, payments and digital products.
  • Your consent, for the wellbeing information described above, for marketing emails, for notifications and for calendar access. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Our legitimate interests, for security, fraud prevention and improving the service.
  • Legal obligation, for tax and accounting records.

Who we share it with

Your expert receives what they need to deliver your session: your name, your email address, the session you booked and the time. They also receive anything you choose to tell them.

We use the following service providers, who process information on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

  • Supabase, for our database, file storage and sign-in.
  • Stripe, for card payments.
  • Tabby, where you choose to pay in instalments.
  • Apple, for App Store purchases and app delivery.
  • Google, for calendar events where a calendar has been connected.
  • Expo, for delivering push notifications.
  • Resend, for sending email.
  • Vercel, for hosting the website.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade it. We do not run advertising on the platform and we do not share your information with advertisers.

We may disclose information where the law requires it, where we need to protect someone from serious harm, or if the business is sold, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.

Where your information is held

Our providers operate servers outside the United Arab Emirates, including in the European Union and the United States. Where information leaves the country you are in, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account is open.

When you delete your account we remove your profile and the information connected to it. We keep records we are required to keep, principally financial records relating to payments, for the period required by law. Anything we retain for statistics is aggregated so it no longer identifies you.

Keeping it secure

Information is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is restricted by row level security, so each account can only reach its own records, and staff access is limited to those who need it. Payment card numbers never reach our systems.

No service can promise perfect security, but if something goes wrong that affects you we will tell you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to do the following.

  • Give you a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your information.
  • Send your information to you or to someone else in a portable form.
  • Stop or limit certain uses of it.
  • Withdraw a consent you gave us earlier.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself in the app, under Settings. This removes your profile, your saved data on the device, and the information connected to your account.

If you would rather we did it, email contact@theintend.com from the address on your account. We will reply within 30 days.

Children

The Intend is not intended for anyone under 18 and you should not create an account if you are under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email contact@theintend.com and we will delete it.

Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses only what it needs to work: a cookie to keep you signed in, and a preference for the language you chose. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

The app stores some information on your device so it works smoothly and remembers your preferences. Clearing it is part of deleting your account.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version here with the date it took effect. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you directly.

Contact and complaints

Write to us at contact@theintend.com. We would rather hear from you first and put something right.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. In the United Arab Emirates you may raise a concern with the UAE Data Office.
