About these terms

These terms apply when you use theintend.com or The Intend mobile application. By creating an account, booking a session or buying a digital product, you agree to them.

If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

Who we are

The Intend LLC, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. You can reach us at contact@theintend.com.

Who can use The Intend

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.

What The Intend is

The Intend connects people with independent practitioners across healing, wellbeing, coaching and related fields, and publishes articles and digital products.

The experts on the platform are independent professionals. They are not our employees or agents. They set their own approach, their own availability and the shape of their own work. When you book a session, the session itself is provided by that expert, not by us. We provide the platform, take the payment and pass it on.

We select the experts we list, but we do not supervise how they practise and we cannot guarantee any particular outcome from working with them.

This is not medical advice

Nothing on The Intend, including articles, digital products, session content and anything generated by the app, is medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal or financial advice. It is not a diagnosis and it is not a treatment plan. It does not replace care from a qualified professional, and you should not delay seeking that care because of something you read or heard here.

If you are in crisis, or you are at risk of harming yourself or someone else, contact your local emergency services immediately. The Intend is not an emergency service, is not monitored around the clock, and cannot respond to emergencies.

Booking a session

When you book, you are arranging a session with that expert. We confirm it, take payment and share the details with them.

Times are shown in your own time zone. The joining link for an online session is provided by your expert and appears in your account and in the app before the session.

Please arrive on time. If you do not attend and have not cancelled within the window below, the session is treated as delivered.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown in UAE Dirhams and include any applicable tax unless stated otherwise. Payment is taken at the time of booking.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. Where you choose to pay in instalments, that arrangement is with Tabby and is subject to their terms and their approval. We never see or store your full card number.

Changes, cancellations and refunds

You can cancel or reschedule a session free of charge up to 24 hours before it starts, and we will refund you in full to the original payment method.

Inside 24 hours, the session is non-refundable, because your expert has held that time for you.

If an expert cancels, or cannot attend, you can reschedule at no cost or take a full refund, whichever you prefer.

If something goes wrong with a session, tell us at contact@theintend.com within seven days and we will look into it. Where the fault is ours or the expert did not deliver what was booked, we will put it right.

Refunds are returned to the original payment method and can take several working days to appear.

Packages

Where you buy a package of sessions, the sessions are valid for 12 months from purchase and are for you alone. They cannot be transferred to another person or to a different expert.

A package can be refunded on the unused sessions, at the single session price for the sessions already taken.

Digital products

Ebooks, journals, workbooks and card decks are licensed to you for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may keep them and use them yourself. You may not resell them, share them publicly, or reproduce them for others.

Because these are delivered immediately, they are not refundable once downloaded, except where the file is faulty or not what was described.

Your account and your content

Anything you write on the platform stays yours. You give us permission to store and display it as needed to run the service, and nothing more.

Everything else on The Intend, including the name, the mark, the design of the site and the app, the articles and the digital products, belongs to us or to the expert who created it, and is protected by copyright.

Using the service properly

You agree not to do the following.

  • Use the platform for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or abuse anyone.
  • Impersonate someone else, or book under details that are not yours.
  • Record a session without your expert agreeing to it first.
  • Copy, scrape, resell or redistribute content from the platform.
  • Try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to any part of the service.
  • Take an expert you met here off the platform in order to avoid our fees.

For experts on the platform

If you practise on The Intend, you confirm that you hold the qualifications, training and any licences your work requires, that you carry appropriate insurance where it is expected in your field, and that you will keep the confidences of the people you work with.

You set your own availability and are responsible for attending the sessions you accept. Your fee share and payment schedule are set out in your agreement with us.

Availability

We do our best to keep the service running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we will give notice where a change materially affects something you have already paid for.

Ending your account

You can close your account at any time from Settings in the app. Closing it does not automatically refund sessions already booked, which remain subject to the cancellation terms above.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will explain why unless we are prevented from doing so.

Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for providing the platform with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the professional judgement, conduct or outcomes of the independent experts on it.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page with the date it took effect. If a change materially affects your rights we will tell you before it applies. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not remove protections you have under the law of the country you live in.
